Robot Surgery machines to be installed in Peshawar hospitals

Peshawar, July 28 2013 (PPI-OT): The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Health and Spokesman of the provincial government, Shaukat Ali Yousafzai has said that the PTI led provincial government would install Robot Surgery machines in the tertiary hospitals of Peshawar to introduce new trends in the field of surgery in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, adding that necessary training for the surgeons would be arranged for the purpose.
This, he stated, while addressing the handing over ceremony of medical equipments of Rs.70 million to the heads of different departments of Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH) donated by UNHCR at KTH Peshawar on Saturday. Provincial Minister for Local Government, Inayataullh Khan, MPAs Mian Khaliq ur Rahman and Fazle Elahi, Chief Executive KTH Dr. Umar Ayub, MS Zafar Iqbal Afridi, heads of different departments of KTH,
doctors, para-medics, nursing and other staff was also present on this occasion.
Chief Executive on this occasion informed that during his one and a half year tenure, record donations of Rs.18 crore were received which have no match in the past. Similarly, Rescue-1122 station has been established in KTH to efficiently cope with any emergency situation and 900 lap-tops have distributed among the medical students and house officers. Likewise, extension in Burn/Plastic Surgical Unit and up-gradation of dialyses units, echocardiograph room and nephrology units were made. KTH is the only hospital having the Isoflurine in the operation theatre.
The Health Minister maintained that we were voted to power for change adding that if we could bring 40 % change in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, it would be a great success and the way for change in the entire country. He said that we want a system free of any type of interference and influence and he from this stage announced that illegal orders of mine should also be ignored.
Yousafzai asserted that he himself was not satisfied with the performance of the state-run-hospitals and he was receiving complaints of non-availability of doctors in the night shift. He warned that the doctors should do away this practice and devote themselves for their sacred profession and help the poor strata of the society.
He declared that the government would ensure 24 hours services in all the hospitals of the province. He assured the health-related people that the government would revisit the service structure of doctors, paramedics and nursing staff for efficient services delivery.
The minister said, due to the corrupt system, good and well reputed people were reluctant to come forward but it were our utmost efforts to bring these people to the decisions making forums and get advantage of their experiences and abilities. He said that the government would ensure best healthcare facilities to the poor patients in the hospitals with minimum expenses as like the past governments, we would not make the hospitals a source of income.
